The importance of electric energy is observed on the world stage based on the accelerated increase in installed capacity and consumption. The sector is divided between several areas of research and currently the advance in the development of solar energy has attracted many investments and studies. Allied to this the search for reduction of losses and efficiency gains of photovoltaic modules in energy generation makes the shading analysis of fundamental importance for the ideal dimensioning of a project. Knowing that shading not only interferes with efficiency but also with the use of physical space, this work proposes the study of the shadow length for photovoltaic panels analyzing their inclination over a year in the city of Natal/RN utilizing software Engineering Equation Solver. Among the analyzed slopes the most adequate configuration was the inclination equal to 10° because this apresent the smallest shadow length and it is also the one that facilitates the cleaning of the panels due to the action of rain.
