CORRELATION FOR TEMPERATURE PROFILE IN THERMAL CYLINDRICAL HORIZONTAL TANKS

Abstract

In previous works was showed numerical and experimental studies of fluid cooling process in cylindrical tanks and was proposed one correlation to degree thermal stratification. The numerical data was obtained by simulation of the cooling process, using a computer code previously validated with experimental data. This work shows that using this correlation to the degree thermal stratification together with additional results is obtained a new correlation to temperature profile stratification during the cooling process. By application of this correlation it is possible predict the temperature profile as a function of variables such as thickness insulation, dimensions of the tank, initial and environment temperatures and time of cooling.
