A network to measure solar radiation was deployed in the state of Alagoas and currently the time series of measures has more than three years in le ngth. Also was developed the Preliminar Solarimetric Atlas of Alagoas for the September of 2007 to August of 2008. The contour maps of daily global solar radiation for the state of Alagoas for that period, clearly describe for each month, well-differentiated regions with increasing radiation from the coast to the hinterland and in general from north to south. Also shows a strong seasonality, for example, with a maximum of 24-26 MJ/m2 in November and a minimum of 13-15 MJ/m2 in July both in the Sertão. The area of greatest potential in the Alagoas is in the region encompassed by the municipalities of Pão de Açucar, Santana do Ipanema and Água Branca. Consistently maps of PAR irradiation and illuminance follow the behavior described above. It is noteworthy that the resulting maps are products of only one year of measurement, thus unable to reflect the inter-annual variability of the solar resource. A more definitive Atlas will be prepared in July 2011 with values of 4 years of measurement.
