This works examines the technical and economic feasibility of implementing grid-tie photovoltaic systems in residential units in the state of Goias using simulation and optimization programs link Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER) and Clean Energy Project Analysis Software (RETScreen) for financial return analysis system. The study analyzes the contribution of the insertion of solar PV in monthly bills of residential customers in the city of Itumbiara-GO (CELG-D), evaluating the systems deployment costs, the cost of energy after power compensation model adopted in Brazil (net metering). The works also presents the results when considering the increase in power tariff. The cost of energy (COE) for PV systems was analyzed. In all cases, the COE was less than the cost of the distribution network, resulting in R$ 0,33kWh with a return on capital estimated for 6 ½ years. With a rising cost of 28.5% power tariff, the estimated return on capital resulted in 5 years and 4 months.
