Abstract

In Brazil, a series of ongoing actions, points to the national development of the grid-connected PV systems market. Strategic projects are predicted in the country, with the objective to create conditions for the development of technological base and technical and technological infrastructure for insertion of the photovoltaic solar generation in the national grid. In building integrated PV systems, might occurs annual yield reductions, due to shading caused by surrounding obstructions. To a more accurately estimative of the annual energy production, it is recommended to use software with ability to analyze the effects caused by the projection of shadows. This paper presents a model used to build a plug-in, called Solar3DBR, which turns the Google SketchUp, into a tool to estimate the shading factor, irradiance and irradiation on surfaces of a three-dimensional model of a building. Compared to existing softwares in the market, already validated by real measurements, the results obtained through the plug-in, indicate a good accuracy of the model used in its construction.
