TESTS OF PV SYSTEMS OPERATING WITH DOMESTIC REFRIGERATORS

This work deals with the preliminary assessment of the performance of PV systems SIGFIs 20 and 30 (brazilian standard for isolated PV systems) operating with domestic refrigerators. The main issue that arises is the real consumption of the refrigerators under real conditions, since it is known that the results of standard laboratory tests, for example, those performed in Brazil by PBE/Procel, differ significantly from the field. Thus, we implemented and monitored two different configurations of SIGFI for powering refrigerators, which were installed in an area used for field testing in Cepel (simulating real conditions encountered in the field. These tests should last for at least one year. For now, there are about three months of operation (by the middle of July 2012), and it was possible to estimate preliminarily the power consumption for refrigerators operating with doors closed and without internal heat loads. Later, other tests will be performed, involving periodical door openings and the insertion of thermal loads into the refrigerator, in order to simulate the actual operating conditions in which these systems are often subjected.
