Currently, new applications of the solar heating for the industry and for solar air conditioning and cooling systems in Brazil require the development of solar collectors for operation in the temperature range between 80 ºC and 250 ºC. In this scope, is been studied a new design of cylindrical concentrators: fixed reflector with mobile absorber for solar tracking. From the optical studies of cylindrical concentrators and graphical analysis of sunlight, was developed a program in MATLAB that allowed us to evaluate the influence of the geometric dimensions of the cylindrical reflector on its concentration factor. The results show that the linear motion of the absorber is sufficient to temperature levels required in this version of the prototype, and present greater simplicity for the displacement of the absorber system. The design of the prototype was made in MAYA software and the next steps are its construction and experimental tests for validation of the model developed.
