The daily, annual average global solar radiation chart show that solar radiation in Minas Gerais varies for 4.5 and 6.5 kWh/m2. The maximum values, 6.5 kWh/m2, occur in the north and northeast region of Minas Gerais, characterized by a semiarid climate with annual rainfall between 600-800 mm and altitudes between 400-600 m. The minimum occurs in the Southeast (Mantiqueira and Serra do Caparaó ) where the rainfall is more intense, with total annual rainfall greater than 1400 mm. The isoline charts of daily, monthly and annual average global solar irradiation describe the data available in Minas Gerais appropriately. Considering the characteristics of the existing information, the charts prepared constitute the most up-to-date and highest-quality set ever elaborated on solar resource in Minas Gerais. The monthly solar radiation charts clearly show, differenciated regions that reasonably correlated with the pluviometric condition and the corresponding hours of insolation.
